The Girl with the Issues & Tissues

I cried profusely that night.

In a stark and cold restaurant,

with no other customer in sight.

There were only – my friend and I.

And the conversation was

full of sobbing, full of sighs.

I was the girl drowning in issues,

Gasping for breath, grasping for tissues.

And the friend was there to try,

She sat across in silence.

Giving me permission to cry,

Giving me the much-needed license.

The waiters were hearing and hidden,

Maybe trying to  eavesdrop –

To conversations – forbidden,

To chaos they can’t stop.

They must have been agitated,

As they counted their labor.

Because we only ordered

’til much much later.

No advice was given,

No counsel provided,

No verses, even,

Just a heart undivided.

Though this is old news,

I still fondly recall –

That the girl with issues and tissues,

Had a friend with her through it all.

A birthday poem to one of my beloved friends celebrating her birthday today. Thank you for staying that night, as I broke my way down to my breakthrough. You were as Christ is to me – Emmanuel, “God is with us.”

He was there with me through you. Glad to know in hindsight.

  1. Great story as a reminder,
That a true friend surely exist.
And this day, worth to remember,
Her day, that will never be out of her list.

    God, our Comforter
    Just like that friend,
    Who supports her.
    True and without pretend.

    Even with words unspoken,
    For what did really matters,
    Her overflowing tears, stopped fallen’.
And peace came sooner than later.

    For that she,
    Who had issues and tissues,
    Found such peace,
Through a friend that never disvalues.
    And by He,
The God who always came to rescue.

    And in the end,
    It became a breakthrough
    So she lifted her hands
To Him, Who cleared her way through.

(Inspired to share my thoughts through a poem. My apology for any errors. 😉 coz’ I’m not used to it .) Anyway, Nice poem!
