We try to blame our monthly red days, but truth be told, we ride emotional roller coasters more frequently than we had in mind, and longer than we intend to. One day, you’re up and running about – being on top of your game, and the next day, you feel like your world could crash any minute.
You look at the mirror and verily conclude,
that you are in your 20’s and still,
you haven’t figured yourself out.
That you are a puzzle to your own self.
And the more that we think of these cycles, the more we doubt if we’re truly changing for the better. The dread and despair leave us crippled to look beyond our present circumstances.
Now, before we wallow on self-hate and look down on our plight, know that unstable women like us have a cause to hope. And when things just seem to overwhelm you, may I invite you to pause with me…
Knowing that our unsteady hearts, wavering faith, and changing minds have a stable anchor, a solid ground, and a secure truth to cling to. The hope of unstable women is in her Christ who changes not.
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” – Hebrews 13:8
——————————————-
Three things the unstable woman should remember:
In your most unstable days,
1. He is still true.
Unlike us, who change our minds so very often, His Word still rings true. That means I can trust Him, and cling to His word – even in my most unstable days.
• Proverbs 30:5 (ESV) Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
• Psalms 12:6 (NIV) And the words of the LORD are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times.
• Numbers 23:19 (NKJV). 19 “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
2. You are still loved.
We sometimes fear making mistakes because we fear being loved less.
But thankfully, not so with God. That’s the wonder of real unconditional love – love for people who do not meet the conditions – that’s us.
• Psalm 94:18-19 (NLT) I cried out, “I am slipping!” but your unfailing love, O LORD, supported me. When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.
• Zephaniah 3:17 “For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”
• Lamentations 3: 22-24 (VOICE) How enduring is God’s loyal love; the Eternal has inexhaustible compassion. 23 Here they are, every morning, new! Your faithfulness, God, is as broad as the day. 24 Have courage, for the Eternal is all that I will need. My soul boasts, “Hope in God; just wait.”
3. Things can get better.
God doesn’t stop working just because you feel stuck in where you are right now.
How patient is the Lord towards us, so go pursue Him with all your might. As you abide in Him, things will surely get better – not solely because your circumstances are changing, but because your hope is anchored in Him.
• Philippians 1:6 (NLT) And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
• John 17:17 (NIV) Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
I write this not because I am some sinless saint.
I write to preach to myself, an unstable woman,
“of whom I am the foremost.”
So take heart, we have hope. ❤
UNSTABLE. The unstable woman Comes and goes. She does what she can, Her folly shows. She proudly stands, Only to stumble and fall. ’Til she gave her hand, To Christ who is her all. Now she hopes, because she knows He is true Never at dead end’s rope, Because she knows she is loved too. Things shall get better, Because now, you have hoped in Him, better.
