The Glitch of the Digital Christian

We post because we want to be seen.

We tweet because we want to be heard.

But even if the crowds see, they only glance. And even if the people hear, they barely listen. And when our earthly audience yawn in boredom and walk away, recall that though some things we do may go unnoticed by men, surely, nothing we do goes unwitnessed before the heavens.

This glitch of humanity of wanting to be seen and heard is a need fully met

not in vices,

nor devices,

but in God.

For He does not only see, but He gazes into the depths of our souls.

For He does not only hear, but in humility, stoops down to listen.

For He is not a virtual bystander, but a faithful and manifest companion.

For His love is not virtual, His caress not digital, and His words not binary codes.

But His love sensed,

His caress felt, and

His words meant.

If we’ve been too numb to feel, too blind to see, and too deaf to hear, if such a glitch persists strongly within us, would you heal us, and help us know You as we should, that You are the God who sees and the God who hears.

And when we call on Him, let it be known that the human on the other side of the line, responds not as a mere virtual being.

So let our love be sensed,

our caress be felt, and

our words meant.

For the God who sees, wants to see us love Him. And the God who hears, wants to hear He is loved.
